Helen O’Leary Receives Prestigious Rome Prize for Visual Art

On April 12, Helen O’Leary (BFA 1988, MFA 1989) received the American Academy Rome Prize in Visual Arts for 2018–19. The Rome Prize winners are selected annually by independent juries of distinguished artists and scholars through a national competition. O’Leary is one of 29 winners for the highly competitive fellowships in literature, music composition, visual arts, architecture, landscape architecture, design, historic preservation and conservation, ancient studies, medieval studies, renaissance and early modern studies, and modern Italian studies. O’Leary will receive a stipend, workspace, and room and board to spend a period of five months to two years at the Academy’s Rome campus to work.
